Light wiring fault

Where do I start looking?

I got ripped off by an MOT garage a few months ago, they charged me 2.5hrs labour for fixing the fault and all they did was 'clean the back of the lights'. The fault is still there.

Basically, when my headlights are on the following happens:
-when in reverse, the left indicator comes on faintly and stays solid until I come out of reverse.
- When I brake the the indicator symbol on the dash lights up, unsure if it's actually coming on.
- The brake lights 'interfere' with the fog lights too, according to the MOT garage and the fog symbols illuminate on the dash.

Where should I start looking in simple terms? Not mechanically minded at all.

black plug on the back lights. on the top edge of it there is a flap, pull this up and then when you look in at the terminals you can push them in a touch, this tightens them up when they are plugged back in.

do that, quick spray of contact cleaner and they'll be fine.

Ye agree with bloke mine did that and cleaned terminals up and tightened the connection bang on now

Whilst you're in there give the earths a check that sit under the carpet either side of the middle against the back of the car, one for each side.

Thanks guys. I opened the black box, pushed in the pins and sprayed it all with contact cleaner. This has stopped my indicator coming on when I have my lights on and brake, but my rear fogs still come on when i'm in reverse. Cheers

Yeah against the rear near the latch, have to pull the carpet back.
