Limp mode problem....Throttle body making a loud humming/whining noise.....

Ok, so the car is having limp mode issues. The guy I bought the car from (davesport172) told me about this before I bought the car. He said that once in a while the engine management light (heartbeat monitor) would come on an dcar would limp, quick restart of car would see it off again.

So anyway I bought the car, didn't have any problems for a week and then the light came on, BUT no limp mode, just a light on dash. This happened 2 or 3 times over the coming week and again no limp mode. Then 1 day it came on and the car did actually go into limp mode. But a restart solved it.

Anyway then yesterday the engine management light and the emission light came on together. Got rid of the limp mode by resetting but emission light was still on.

So just now I went and bought a fault code reader, gave it a scan and got the following codes:

P0325 Knock sensor 1 circuit malfunction
P0120 TPS sensor malfunction

I then accidently cleared the codes with the reader which got rid of the constant emissions light. I drove the car around for a few minutes but couldn't get the limp mode to kick in again. Maybe fixed it? (doubtful!)

Anyway then I lifted the bonnet and noticed that with the ignition on the TPS was making a very loud noise/whine. Is this normal?

The previous owner actually had the TPS replaced by renault when this problem first arose for him, but from memory I think this was a few years ago, not too sure!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Patrick
