I returned from a weekend away last night with the car running beautifully. However, on the drive to work this morning I only got as far as the petrol station. Having filled-up, I was unable to shift into first gear. With the clutch fully depressed I couldn't actually get into any gear. After 5 minutes I was able to force into first and drove the mile or so home in first gear (ouch!) and then couldn't reverse into my driveway... (at least the legs got a good workout).
The interesting thing is that I've not had any issues at all with the clutch or the gearbox and this was completely out of the blue. Any ideas, guys? Could it be the linkages or - from your experience - does it sound a little more serious than that? Sadly I am a loooong way from any reputable set of spanners who I would trust with my car and I don't fancy a long drive anywhere... LOL!
