Lock in glove box

I have a lock in my Mk1 Ph1 L reg glove box. I assume its the same key that fits the boot lock (which I do not own).

I've seen other Mk1 in the scrappers with these so I assume mine isn't after market.

What's it for?

IIRC its to do with the alarm/immobiliser

Im pretty sure its in the car manual as well.
That should explain it.

A mate of mine has a 1.4 RT i believe the lock in the glovebox is like a second imobiliser i will try to find out more for you.

Well I don't have the car manual, never got one with the car.

I don't have the key for it either, I suppose it's the same one as the boot lock? I don't have the key for the boot lock so I guess I'll have to find a boot lock/glove box lock and key combo from the scrappers...
