Locking Nut Trouble

  Clio 1.2 Extreme 4
I managed to get one wheel if with the locking nut, but i cant seem to get the other side wheel off!

Every time i put the "key" onto the nut to unluck and apply pressure it jus seems to pop straight off.

Whats the easiest way to get the locking nut off?
What am i doing wrong :dapprove:

My key had warped slightly...Even with a wrench and extender bar it just kept spinning and wouldn't lock on. After much swearing and hurt fingers I put pride to one side and took it to a garage to get it buzzed off with the gun :(

Have a search on here for some previous threads on similar topics.... you could always whack a larger socket over the top of it to see if that works*

*I am not encouraging anyone to take a hammer and socket set to their alloys, meetly suggesting it as an example of what people have tried in the past

get someone to press hard against the wheel brace while you try to undo it. failing that, take it to a garage and they'll whip it off with an air gun.

Unfortunately this wont work! Because the locking not has a separate peice of metal which spins around the edges of the nut, if you understand what i mean? I assume your locking nuts would be the same type?

Still havnt got around to sorting this out, had the car mot'd a few weeks ago, asked the lad to take it off if he could he tried with a wheel brace but couldnt get it off, his reply was come back next week and ill have to hammer it off?

Anybody managed to get theres off or is the air gun the only solution?

Get a new wheel nut remover, if you still have the box they come in or sometimes in the front of the manual there is a code. Go to a renault dealer or ask wests renault on here :)

Tbh i doubt someones going to rob my standard 15" alloys iv taken all the other locking nuts off and replaced them with standard nuts that came in the boot with that same locking nut key, id rather just break it off than having to buy a new locking nut.
