looking for a 1.6 clio

  182
my next car is going to be a 1.6clio.

What is the best model i can get?

What would be some good mods for it?

any help is good thanks

How much you got to spend? the 1.6 comes in various shapes and forms and obviously is budget dependant!

mods wise what kind of think are you hoping to do? more power? drivability? styling? Also what are you thinking of spending modding it?

  182
ive got around £3500 tops really.

but im only 18 so cant get the 182 yet lol

id just like to know whats the best 1.6 as in model wise? like rsi, alize rn whatever?

and mod wise, they would be gradual, probably like a 172 replica and clio 182 sport alloys etc.

any help?

try and look for the 1.6 16v RSi! Is a great little car, probably best spec and Giles on here will be selling one soon.

Mods wise I would: 172 or cup spoiler, lower on DECENT suspension (eibach sportlines are my personal choice), either ph1 172 alloys (OZ F1s) or 182 alloys in anthracite. ph1 172 front end (wider wings and bumper), 172 side skirts, ph2 172 rear bumper. Colour coding. and exhaust to taste

  Leon Cupra R 225
dynamique plus, get it bog standard and go from there, cheap as chips to mod nicely, 1.6 will be beefy enough for a while aswell

The RSi comes better equipped (Half leather, alloy bonnet and cable throttle as a pose to fly by wire) but standard for standard I think the ph2 looks better and has the better dash. The Dynamique has thicker ARB and stiffer suspension standard too, something I'm not sure about on the RSi, I'm sure Giles will clear it up though.

Dynamique+ will be over budget surely? Standard trim the RSi isnt the best handling but as I said in my mod list, some eibach sportlines will sort that out nicely!

  BMW M135i
Plenty there within budget.

If you look hard enough you should be able to find one with climate/electric sunroof etc, like I wish I did oh well been and gone now.

That was my old one (pic ***** lol).

If you've got any questions then fire away, I took mine to pieces several times.

whats the 0-60 on a 1.6 rsi and what insurance group is it?

and is giles forsale? for how much?

im pretty sure he is selling it. Been in it quite a few times, its a mint car and anyone who knows giles will tell you how well looked after his car is.

PM him and see what he says :)

Best thing to do mate is see what you can find, then post up details of it and we can advise you on that particular car!

  Renault clio MK2 RSI
I need to sell my RSI having just upgraded to a sport. 2000W reg 78k, looking for around 2300 as I need to shift it. Will be putting it on ebay this weekend. PM me if you're interested. I'm not that far from Cheshire either.

Save another 500-1000K and youll be able to get a good one, if you want the best place to look for the 1.6's go on autotrader and sign up, avance the search criteria to 1.6 dynamique or somehitng.

best model is the dynamique (for your age i guess).

I wouldnt mod it a lot, all id do to it is get some springs, perhaps a pannel filter and maybe a decat and/or catback exhaust. if you can afford it then get a superchip or a remap if they exst for the 1.4/1.6.

Im in the same position, got a car which may sell for £2500 right now, £1000 in the bank and want to get another grand to go with it.

Engine mods are POINTLESS on a 1.6 unless you go all out and that costs THOUSANDS! Get an exhaust if you want the sound, decat does make it more free reving but I wouldnt risk running a decat! Remap is pointless unless you need it for the expensive engine mods. Styling and handling mods I would do though. Then if i had the cash all out high reving wild cams custom intakes etc.

Glad its ur wallet and not mine! Will buy it off you when you run out of cash ;)

  Not a Clio anymore.....
True

Buy a 1.6 though. That way your not getting raped on tax too.

The Dynamique (D) is a tax band lower than the RSi (E), prob save about £25 a year.

I had an RSi and loved it to bits but engine wise theres not much if anything to choose between all the 1.6 16v models.
