Looking for a 172, any tips?

  Ph-Quick
Hi guys, im new to Clio sport, ive just sold my much loved MK4 Astra GSi Turbo and looking at getting a 172!

Im looking at spending 5-5.5k and 02 reg onwards.

Im just looking for any tips and things i should be looking out for when i go to view them as im going tomorrow to look at a couple tomorrow. Just things like when the cambelt needs to be done and how big a job it is, basically anything i can use also to knock the prices down!

If there is already a section with tips then fell free to link away!

Cambelt is 72k or 5 years whichever is first. Reno would have your pants down for the change but a decent independant place would do it for around £450, this would normally include swapping the aux belt too.

Other than that just make sure it has had all its services every 12k and it should be fine.

i am quite drawn to the red ones, but im not sure if the novalty would wear off, im looking at silver ones i think really, it shows of the subtle styling the best i feel and after having a silver car i like the fact that it hides little marks!

What do people think to this one:

il be paying cash there and then if i liked it and wanted it so the price would come down to at least 5.5 i reckon!

Its a toss up between that one and this one:

more miles but looks mint and the guy selling says it is genuinely mint as it was his mates!

Didnt realise the cambelt was after 5 years, so any 02 reg i buy i will have to do it anyway!

What about a 51 plate, same go for them? as in should have been done by now?
