Looking for a PH2 172 - what to look for?

  PH2 172
Hi there,

I'm looking for a 172 at the moment, other than the obvious - is there anything in particular I should look out for? I beleive the cambelt is due 5yrs/72k - should I avoid anything where it hasn't been done or just be prepared to get it done straight away?

I'm willing to pay about £5.5k, but ideally a bit less. I've seen a few 182's listed at ~6k - but I think these seem a little too cheap for what they are?

Thanks :)

get one with cambelt already done unless the price is low for age/condition.

check the exhaust as most of them fall off! so if it hasnt done already it may be about to!

leaking rear dampers are also another thing to look for although a cheap fix, worth looking for none the less.

Make sure they slide into gear smoothly (its not the smoothest box in the world but their shouldnt be any resistance to go into gear) and make sure it doesnt jump out of 5th gear

Leaking xenon headlight washer jets

theres a couple other things but thats the main ones

save more money and buy a newer one, they dont last too well imo! 43k in mine and near enough everything that could go wrong did!
