When bought mine i got told make sure cambelt changed at 72k or 5 years which ever comes first. AUX belt often needs replacing at 30k

No necessarilly, I bought mine from an auction on a 02 plate and didn't know anything about the cambelt needing changing until I read this forum. I got it done with a 48k service for £550. It is definately one thing you need to check.

I got a 53 plate Full Fat in March for £6,200 so you should find one easily.

Try owning a Scooby then you can say you own a money eater!! Blimey you would have had a bit of cash left over if you would have bought my phase 2 172 a couple of months ago!! FSH all belts done, new brakes 17" bsa alloys magnex pipe etc, 63k on the clock pearl black, i sold her for 4k!!:) I was robbed I tell ya!!

All cars are money pits unless you buy a cheap shi*tter and throw it away when it goes wrong.

there was a good buying guide in evo magazine quite a few months back for the 172 maybe try the evo website see if its on there.

I can understand you wanting to stand up for your car but we all know that renaults reliabilty and service is shocking. For this reason my advice is don't buy one.

(even though I still loved mine when I had it)

Get a good cup for that you know it makes sense ;) . Ive been lucky with reliability on mine twice round a track and nearly 20K of motoring in a year and only a service and engine mount at Rentech for 250 quid and a couple of oil changes (Never dealt with a main dealer yet). I was in to Jap cars before and wanted a teg type r before the clio but could only find high milers for the money i had, so got the cup and now im glad that i opted for it.
