I'd be buying a dCi 80 / 100 .. find one with the specs required .. CD player, a/c etc .... job done.

Don't get one with a sunroof !!!!!!

1.2 to 1.6 isn't really worthwhile.

It's still badly specced. It's still got the same looks. It's still slow. It's just not quite as slow.

Save more (for the insurance) and get a 172.

I'm going to go with the masses tbh. Whilst a 1.6 16v might be a little quicker than your 1.2 it certainly won't be anything worth calling and you'll quickly get bored of it.

If you want a quick Clio get a 172, although at that money it's more likely to be a Phase 1. If it doesn't have to be a Clio then consider a Saxo VTR/VTS or a 106 GTI. Chav label or not, they're a seriously fun car which are easy to to fix and modify.

Insurance is the issue with the 172 as its 5.6k for the year. So unless you are offering to pay then that's a big no no :(

I need a new car tbh and I lovethe mk 2 ph2 clios, figured a 1.6 was the best option, never thought of a derv though. Which would be the best model to go for ?

Thanks, liam

dynamique DCi 80 or if you can find one in your budget a Dynamique DCi 100 plenty about with climate and xenons.

1.6 16v's are ok, but they are s**t on fuel! we struggle to get high 30mpgs out our one and my mrs drives like miss daisy! she was getting mid 60s in the dci 100

To be honest, if your are getting mpg out of the 1.6 like that, then there is either something wrong with it, or she is ragging it when your not there lol

I used to get an average of about 39 out of mine, with K-Tec Cat-Back Sports exhaust, 16" 195 tires, and I definitely didn't drive it like a pensioner. Foot down as much as possible for the noise of the exhaust, and because I could and still get good mpg.

As for comments about them being poorly specced, mine was no worse than a 172 in that department. Had Digital CC, electric sunroof and windows, cd player etc. The sports dont really have much more in a lot of cases.

At the end of the day, you buy what you want and afford.

I would agree with comments about trying to find a dci 100 though. Same uprated arbs and suspension that the 1.6 has compared to the 1.2, similar performance (the 1.6 is 110bhp) better mpg, and with a remap, probably better and faster to drive than the 1.6.

yep 1.5 k9k dci, standard a 1.6 16v has legs on it from 0-30mph, after that its even until 80mph then the 100 starts to pull a bit.

remapped its a different story!

plus they are twice as good to drive than the other non RS sports inc dci65/80

found someone close by that does remaps, any idea what difference it would make to the 1.2 16v i have just now?

would it be worth it?
