Loose Handbrake Lever

Ive had a wee problem with my handbrake, i pulled it up the other day and it sorted out "popped". There is no friction when I pull the lever up and no application of the brake. Ive tried tightening the nut in the lever compartment but its done nothing...... :S

Any ideas?

Sounds like the cable's snapped, or has come out of the bit it sits in.
