Loosing oil (I mean losing but I can't spell it, I fail)

  '02 Monaco Blue 172
I have a problem where if I go on a long motorway journey, the next day i'll get the oil light on and the oil will need filling up.
Its done this a couple of times now since I had my cambelt changed, could it be linked!
there is no oil leaking when the car is parked and i dont use the car that often, and long motorway journeys even less but this has happened a couple of times now so starting to think there is a leak/problem somewhere!
Anybody got any ideas what the problem might be?
I've changed the oil pressure switch before anyone says that as I thought it was this at first but just filling up the oil sorts the problem out!!
cheers

Re: Loosing oil

Does it smoke at all when you first start it? Not condessation smoke, blue smoke.

If its not leaking (I.e patch on the drive) its burning it. WHich is bad.

Re: Loosing oil

no smoke when I start it, but i did notice when I fitted new front discs the other week there seemed to be quite a bit of black stuff on the suspension arm attached to the car(sorry not sure of the technical term!)

Re: Loosing oil

Take the undertray off (plastic guard under the engine) and put some cardboard down underneath the car overnight. If its covered in oil in the morning, start searching for a leak!

Does it only happen on long journeys or is it after a certain number of miles?

If only long journey I wondered about a block in the breathing system somewhere leading to oil being fed into the air intake? Any sign of oil in the air filter box?

yes ha ha, my bad!

its only happened on long motorway journey's where i've been averaging 70-80 for a few hours.
Just had a look when i went out last and did notice a few spots of oil on the floor underneath the engine so will try and have a look at air filter box tomorrow of other possible leaks!
