Lord of the Rings - Battle for Middle Earth 2

Quality, quality RTS. :approve:

If you liked the first one - then definitely get this - its much, much better. From the graphics (even on my lowly 9800 Pro) to the sound effects and the level design - it really is so much better all round.

Even if you're not a fan of the real-time-strategy type games, or like me, you know jack-all about the LOTR 'world' - I would still recommend this highly...

I think most settings are on medium to high. I turned down some of the lighting effects (I think) to a lower setting and noticed quite an improvement in framerate. It must be great to have a PC to run this with all the eye-candy switched on!

I've started the Good Campaign on this one. I completed the original LOTR-BFME game playing as Evil, so I thought it was about time I polished my halo.... ;)

I run everthing on high, was going to try V High but havent yet...

Im the oposite aswell, did the original on good now doing this on evil, the turn based game looks a bit odd tho, doubt ill be doing much on that

Quality game tho, create a hero is cool... ive got a huge troll called ***** Flaps, also a wizard with a gold face who can turn people into livestock :approve:

Never really into playing RTS's online as there are always groups of 12-year-old Americans thinking it's cool to play with 35 cheats enabled. ;)

LOTR-BFME2 also seems to have a very clever memory management side to it. The highest memory usage on my PC I've seen was with Black & White 2 at around 75% iirc. Previous to that, it was Battlefield 2 that hovered around the 67% mark. This game takes a massive 97% of the memory available - and I've got 1.5GB in my PC. Clearly, the more memory you have, the more it will benefit this game. Until you get to the inbuilt limit of your OS, that is!

Bloody hell - mission 7 on the Good side is hard. A tip for dumb people (like me!) - remember to close the main gates of your base, to stop the rabble coming in. I didn't, and it made it so much harder.

Half way through mission 8 now - great map. Nothing better than ranks of thick b*****d orcs getting trampled under-foot by your heavily armoured and upgraded calvalry. ;)

Best call it a day for today and get ready for the pub!
