loss of power and engine management light on

my clio 172 loses power and the engine management light is on but wen the car loses power the revs stick and the speed stays the same just has no accelaration any idea's ?

Its goin into limp home mode. Check the big white connector in the relay box next 2 battery. They fill with water sometimes or get corroded.
