Loss of power

I was driving my Clio 182 home earlier and all of a sudden there was some kind of power loss. It responded a bit like a car with a slipping clutch. Even out of gear it was reluctant to rev. I did manage to get it home ok but it definitely wasn't driving properly. Seems to idle fine, it's always a bit "lumpy" but it sits just below 1000rpm without moving.

The engine management light isn't on and it started without any bother after I pulled over and turned it off. I haven't looked under the bonnet yet because it's way too dark outside and I want to go to bed. I wouldn't really know what to look for anyway!

I've had a good search on here and found that it's likely to be one of the following:

Spark plugs
Lambda sensor
pedal potentiometer
coil pack

I'm leaning towards plugs/leads because I can't work out when they were last changed. The car is on about 76k. Last service was at 63k. I'll have to see if it still gives me problems tomorrow.

Any idea roughly how much a decent service with replacement plugs etc would be? Does anyone know somewhere reliable to take it to in Northampton? I don't trust Renault dealers.

I drove it today and it seemed ok-ish but again lacked throttle response and felt like it was down on power. No warning lights are on. I had a look under the bonnet, checked oil levels etc and all seems ok. I wasn't really sure what to look for though and haven't removed the engine cover
