Lost photos from iPhone

After syncing it last night to put new music on it I couldn't open any apps they were showing on my iPhone but wouldn't open, I plugged iPhone back into pc and it wouldn't let me sync it only restore it to last might so I did this now around 30 photos have vanished.

Could this be because I cancled the back up of the phone half way through so it would get on with syncing? I take it the photos are gone for good?

restore from an earlier backup you might lose a few if you dont do it frequently.

Think I only had the one restore point, will check again later
