Lost Service Book

need a little question answering.......

I gave my car to my mate to do a service at his garage, he works for ford, he said that he could get the book stamped at his garage so the car will still have a full dealer history, so i thought yes, thats a good idea.

the car returned all serviced up, it was for the 36K service, good job, but he didnt give me my book back,

I asked hime for it and he said that he'd forgotten to take it with him and he would take it in the next day, the car now has 41k on the clock and he hasn't given me the book back, he said that i never gave it to him.

so now effectively i have no service history, which is a bummer. but my question is.....

how much money will i lose selling the car without a service history?

im a bit sick of the car really, might be thinking of selling it thats all

cheers

Have you owned the car from new ? If so and you know where it was serviced they " might " have the details on their system . Try and get a new , blank service book from Renault UK .Explain the situation .

Tel 08000 723372

Or check out ebay :

Not sure how much you will lose with no stamped up service book but i would imagine it will be a considerable amount :(

Benefield will stamp the book if you send it to them. Just give them a bell. Then I catch you mate at work and ask him to stamp the 3rd service.

The golf I bought was missing its 2 and 3rd stamps, but had been serviced so I post it to the dealer and they stamped it up.

What a result!!!

Called Reno, (thanks for the number!!) they said that i could go into a dealer and get a book, free of charge, great i thought.

I rang benfield who said that they would stamp the book for me free of charge, then i can get my mate to do it at his ford garage.

Rang my local reno dealer, wanted a bloody tenner for the book, and told me that he bought the books from reno! the reno bloke said that they give them to all dealers for free,. so i rang reno uk again, and a bloke there raked thru a filing cabinet and found me one and its in the post now!! Bloody greedy renault dealer!!

Thanks for the help guys - wont lose any money on ther car now!!

another result for the forum!!!!!!!!!!
