loud clicking when opening drivers door

hi all, my mums mk2 phase 1 has a really loud click/bang coming from the hinge area of her drivers side door. this happens always as she is opening the door. Any idea? How do i fix this?

check strap has either come loose T30 bolt, or the check strap itself is worn out

I had that, bolts were loose, check em.
