Loud thud noise when reversing up my drive??

  Fabia VRS Special Ed
Lately, I've started hearing a very loud "thud" noise when I begin to reverse up my drive. I'll pull into my close, put it into reverse and it reverses fine, as soon as I begin to back up my drive as I'm turning (it's quite a gradient) the front of the car makes this noise and I can feel it through the car...I'd only assume it's suspension related?

Any ideas?

Lower engine mount (gearbox mount). One of my Clio's made that noise under those circumstances and this was what it was. May be worth inspecting the wishbone bushes and bolts too, they tend to creak as opposed to thud.

I'll have a look bud, like I said it's only just started happening, it seems to be as soon as the rear begins to rise therefore putting all the wieght on the front...

Haha when I was posting this I knew somebody would say somethin like this :) I was waitin for someone to say "are you sure it's not you reversin into your house? :dead:" lol.

Splitter rubbng on the ground?

Nah mate, it's not a scrape or anything, it's a HUGEEEEEEEEE thud :|

I've recently noticed mine doing this aswell and I've got uprated engine mounts so no movement there lol, seems like it is brake related as I can feel it through the pedals?

I think I've fixed this now....for the benefit of others, at a glance the suspension looked perfectly fine, but under close inspection the anti roll bar link had snapped, I fitted a new one and the car handles much better and I haven't heard any noise since.

I've ordered another to fit to my other side so that I know that both are brand new, I'll make a guide for anyone to follow.

That could be the ball joint(s) - I'm changing mine this weekend as I sometimes get a dull creak when setting off up a gradient and with the wheels turned.
