Low idle rear window de-mister prob.

Good morning to all!


This morning I found I have a little problem with my demister.

When driving up to the trafficlights and I engage the clutch, my car doesn't seem to pick up the revs on idle. It sinks unders 750rpm and then comes up, settling itself around 850rpm.

Normally I don't find this a problem, but my de-mister gets de-activated and since the weather is getting bad in Holland, I look like it fixed.

Last week I took out my sidelights, since one is broken and I wasn't "bovverd" to get any new ones. Could this be causing the problem? Because I haven't noticed the low revs before.

The problem got worse,

This morning going to work the engine went down in rpm and then stalled. This happened only one in a 15min drive (about 10 traficlights) (de-mister also cutting out) On the way back home it also stalled once.

Problem didn't solve putting the sidelights back (didn't really suspected else, but just to be sure)

Any sugestions? Else it's back to some renault dealer or garage.

Im sure there is a switch somewhere which adjusts the idle to up, when the demister/air con is activated i cant help where though sorry never changed one. But there will be someone on here who does.

Mine was doing the same last week! Diagnostics test came up with a lambda fault so just waiting on the part coming!

Lambda? strange wouldnt have thought this would have anything to do with it. Bonus fault lol

Sorry, didn't notice a problem with my heater, but the revs were all over the show and it was cutting out!

I think the heater just shuts down when the rpm is too low. Current from the alternator will change, and that's probably the cause of the heater.

I have read about the throttle body being faulty with clio 1.2 (causing similar problems), anyone has problems with their 172?

Could it be a lambda fault as it seems to be getting worse??

revs are ok I guess.....rocky idle has always been in my car. Just drops too low now.

Little bump since it is friday, might have some spare time this weekend.

Are there easy things to check before I take it to the garage? With a little how-to-DIY ofcourse.

Just to inform you,

I cleaned the throttlebody or electronic throttle control valve today, and the problem is solved.
