Low MPG

  BMW 330ci, Clio 182
got a 1.2 16v clio recently,

reset the computer thing and have been trying to drive economically!

most of the journeys are relatively short i guess, but even with a few motorway trips ( bout 1hr each way ) i can't get over 40mpg

after reading the other thread about how much some people are getting, this doesn't seem quite right. Car's just been serviced too, does this sound about right?

also, when the car's turned on, it tends to idle fairly high - betwene 1000-2000rpm any reason for this?

The high-ish revving when you start the car happens to all of them mate, it's the choke to get the car slightly warmer slightly faster, it willdrop to around 750rpm when the water temp. gets a bit higher.

I used to get 44mpg on short journeys to work and back, so definately something not right?
Tyre pressures? Need a good service?

yeah will try checking the tyre pressure, not sure what else it could be

definitely seeems too low though, as i've been intentionally driving economically and it hasn't reached 40 yet!

had a service when i picked it up ( 2 weeks ago ) although not sure how thorough that was

any other ideas?
