low speed torque/throttle response

Need some guidance on tuning in layman terms please!

I'm quite happy with my Trophy's performance @ 4k rpm & above but feel it's lacking in throttle response & low speed torque before it hits that mark. Am I right that remapping the ecu & possibly fitting throttle bodies would make power kick in a lot sooner like say 2k rpm? I'm after a much more aggressive throttle response, if I tap the accelerator quickly sometimes the rev needle barely moves.

What mods are best purely from a torque point of view without turbo or supercharging? Cams/throttle bodies?
220bhp & 180lb/ft doesn't make sense to me as I'd rather have 200bhp & 200lb/ft which I'd imagine would provide much more low speed 'pull' from standstill.

Thanks

i think its the cam profile more than anything that determines the kick. ecu won't change that. i.e. cam work would be your best option for getting what you want, but might sacrifice the higher end.

should have bought a diesel ;-)

  106 GTi
I think there was some threads on here about a set of cams that come on cam at around 3K, like Rory said its the characteristics of the engine, nice torquey 8V 205 GTi is what you need!

There are.

A set of My altered later opening hi-torq camshafts, matched with a modified inlet manifold and a remap will see torque and low rpm drivability bumped up considerably.

This is required as getting the engine to reach a point of decent combustion efficiency at lower rpms on the stock cam is quite hard and involving if your not wishing to change anything physically.

oh, and getting 200lbs.ft is going to be near impossible as a decent theoretical max is about 192 for a 2ltr, and anything with that sort of torque is something very very strong.
