Ive got apex -40mm springs and am impressed. Improves the looks and handling and I can still get people in the back, put my bike on the roof and go over speed bumps.
I'm alkso thinking of lowering my Mk2 Ph1. Is it not sucha good idea to go for just springs as with all this cant take heavy loads problem due to the dampers neing compressed permanantly?? I just cant quite afford dampers too.
I'm -40mm on standard shocks. Yeah I think eventually my shocks might get knackered by being compressed more than they should be, but 18months/15k miles later and mine are still OK.
Not been a problem so far - I wouldn't particularly recommend fitting a rear-mounted bike carrier with stiffer springs though as I did have problems with mone - too much force being transferred into the rack causing it to loosen off (almost lost Beagy's Patriot once...). Roofracks OK though!
Matta - if the apex for yours are the same as the apex for 172/182s then I'd recommend them. Firm but not bone shaking.
if you buy one of the better quality springs you shouldnt have too many problems. Although i'd always advice to get shocks as well if money sint an issue
