lowering on springs mk2

I want to go about -40mm lower, i've got a 1.4 16v extreme which on parkers says it has sports suspension!?? dont know if this is true...

Can i just get some lowering springs and put those on? will they lower by
-40mm on my car if they say they are -40mm springs?, can i get away with not changing the dampers?

anyone recommend any good springs? manufacturer which is any good?

If u put the springs on the car, it would imporve handin better. I don't think reno put sport suspension on standard clios, unless its a 'clio sport e.g 2L'. I would go for the 'eibec'(sp) 45mm -40mm springs or 'Apex' or if u got the cash best go for a 'suspension kit, because standard shock wouldn't last that long and u would hav to get new shocks. (stay away fro'p.i')

theres the real Renaultsport Clio (172/182)

then theres the clio sports (1.2,1.4,1.6) although there ain't much sporty about them, they should be called clio nippys

Improve handling is a bit questionable what do you mean I'd say Apex for example don't on a bumpy back road I can do quicker in my standard car on a smoother track they will help rduce roll which helps increase grip and even tyre wear out.

The claims or sports supension are a bit dubius there so many specs of springs I'd say there abit hard but thats a product of the fact the engine weights more.

40mm springs will loower you car fine yep no problem you are unlikly to get 40mm out of them compnaies calim more than they actually do as it sells more. You can if you want keep the stock dampers life span will be reduced but by how much it like asking how long string is some people wear them out in a year some never they don't notice. Even on stock springs I had the dampers worn in 50k to a degree I wasn't happy with so springs alone doesn't kill them. Other claim to drive hard and have 50k on stock dampers with lowering springs.

I'd recomend the Eisbeck or however you sell it springs if you want to the best otherwise gte some coilovers and set the ride heighyt to what you want there £440 or so from john 2 modified.
