harry some people have sense, others such as myself, don't LOL

i wish i could afford to have none.
big respect for help on this one so far, not that ive got very far.

and whats wrong with 182 sl*g sleepers. well im sure id go round corners faster than them anyway, :D

Oh yeah, just remembered, might have some eibach springs in my garage for your car. let me know if youre interested.

I have had:

Willified Valver as standard = Ok
Then on SPAX adjustable shocks and springs = Good
Then back to standard = s**t after SPAX
Then on Gaz coilovers = Superb

I have had the 172 as standard = s**t
Then on Gaz coilovers = Superb
Then back to standard = s**t

Also had a 182 with CUP springs = s**t

The Gaz are a known very stiff set up and I have been more then happy with them, the handling is fair superior to standard set up in the wet & dry.

N.B All have been lowered approx -40mm

Just my 2 penneth worth:)

Lowering/modifying cars is pointless, I cant see why all these young lads do it to be honest.

the inside edges of my new tyres are wear badly the guy said that my camber was out and that a new set of springs would prolly cure it.

this is beacuse there is such unclear message about the effects of lowering a car. i live in lincolnshire where the roads are mental and not smooth. so lowering prolly isnt a good idea but i cant helpt but feel im not really an accepted member of CS untill i spend £800 on coilovers and remove the majority of my front body work on speedhumps and potholes.

i like the look of a lowered car.
id like to go fast round crap corners.
anyone actually know what they are talking about wanna give me advice?
There no reason to think you not a member as your not lowered it just lots of members have modified suspension setups.

My cars stock and noone has ever made me feel an unwelcomed member (I'm sure there a dirty pun there) its down to you than the car (beats me why I'm excepted realy).

My car was lowerd on Spax coilovers and I never had trouble with speed bumps (stock wheels) however fast I hit them. Up against curbs the splitter (standard car) was about 1cm below the top of the curb but it was never a problem.
If you want a more sporty ride less roll then I'd recomend you get it.
I got rid of mine as the ride wasn't right (possibly down to the SPAX spring/damper rates FK's would be much better) and doing 20k a year with a bad back it just wasn't worth it plus insurance was a problem as I own two cars.
Lowering did wonders to my tyre wear the springs were harder etc and the wear was almost perfect so they were superb on those grounds.

The only way you'll know for sure what setup you'll like is to live with it and your looking at £550 for coilovers then either fit them yoursefl or get a member to do it for ~£40. If you don't like it then £40 to go back to standard and sell the coilovers for £350 or so. Ok so you will have lost £280 which isn't a small amount but I'd suspect you would like them and not swop back. You could go for springs and dampers for ~£300 though and sell them for £150.

I look on coilovers as a different not always a better setup. It depends what your willing to put up with.

the blokes in the garage next to my work said the same to me, that you will ruin your car, and it actually makes the car worse blah blah so why do it...
i just laughed and said, because it looks sweet, and it does handle better, you think they spend all that money or researching, calculating and designing these suspension products so they can just make your car worse off. Shuuuuuuuut uuuuuuuup. lol

  Snotter's
Its all down to the choice of setup and product,a car dropped on its arse generally will handle poorly.Imo if the car is setup properly, has good dampers and springs then it should handle better
