Lowering Springs

Im looking for some 35mm lowering springs made by Jamex, but i cant seem to find them anywhere does anyone know any sites where i can find them, they retail at about £40

do you have a Mk1 1.2 ?

if you want some cheap springs most of em aint more than £50

they must be very very cheap if there for a Mk2

Spax do lowering springs for the Mk1, the ones they list in the Demon Tweeks catalouge are for the 16v, but they do do them for the 8v. The oens they list are £40...and if you sign up to ClioSport you will get atleasy £4 off em...and the joining fee is £5

yer i would stick with the eibachs cos my car rides better now then it did on standard shocks with them on. they were £120 quid from demon tweeks though, but its worth it.

one of my best mates has a vtr and its got cheepo springs on it, i think they are pi springs and the ride is appauling even with the standard chunky tyres on.

How has anyone found Spax, as they are quite alot cheaper than Eibach, they seem v. expensive sompared to other companies, are they really THAT good?

Its worth spending as much as you can afford on suspension tbh. If you can afford the Eibachs, then get them. Otherwise, Spax stuff is a good choice. Id go for a full kit tho, not just springs.

if you want a full kit for not much cash go with Apex...

there full kits are only £200

when buying a spring kit what do you get? everyone on about the torsion bar, so do you get the front springs and then the torsion bar has to be lowered to match, or do you get 4 springs and then lower the torsion bar?? im really confused can someone help?

If you just buy springs, then you get two springs, the torsion bar is then adjusted so that the back sits lower to match the front. If you get a suspension kit, you get two springs and four shocks. If you do get a full kit, the torsion bar will still need adjusting.

thanks mate, is it easy to do it yourself or will it be easier to get a garage to fit it??

i purchased so 35mm today so hopefully car will be lowered by next weekend. also how much difference will it make to my insurance?

Depends on your insurence company, some companies (Dierect Line) wont insure you if ur under 21, where as some others (CIS i think) wont charge you any extra.

Ive never tried adjusted a torsion bar myself TBH, but apparently its pretty easy. Theres a guide on how to do it here, http://www.daz-uk.com/cliosport/guides/lowering-torsion-bar/http://www.daz-uk.com/cliosport/guides/lowering-torsion-bar/

p.s. Make sure you declare your mods. If you dont, the ins company could f**k you over good and proper if you ever have to make a claim. Lowering springs alone wont normally add much to your premium.

You with direct line then m8?

When i switched from Direct line to CIS, CIS was £350 cheaper, ok i had been driving for 10 months when i switched and cus the rep deals wiht teh rest of my family he gave me 25% no claims. They are ok wiht all mods cept engine mods.

You definatly need to delair it cus if you dont technically it invalidates your insurence and then you can be done for driving wiht no insurence, plus the fact you arent covered, imagine if you wrote off a Porche and you had to pay for it? Only thing i would consider not declairing is when i get my car chipped, as they have to really closley study the car to tell.

no im with Provident (Quoteline) dunno if anyone has had any dealings with them, but i will declare it hopefully they wont mind. ive been driving 6 months and my insurance is 798 quids
