Lowering the clio...

Im after lowering my clio approx -40mm, now fitting the springs is no probs to me as ive done it before to older cars, but how do i stand with the torsion bar adjustment? Is this somethig you can DIY or is it a specialist jobbie??

Info much appreciated guys and gals... :D

Depends, if that is your car in your avator, then you wont have a torsion bar, you only have a torsion bar on the mk1 clios

yeah thats my car mate, so no torsion bar then...? Was told otherwise on phone by a styling company?

no mate its 4 springs, the clios <98 had torsion bars, all the clios 98> have 4 springs.

so dont listen to them! r u keeping ur standard alloys or going for something bigger, if so id advise 60mm drop, im on 17s with a 60mm drop and i can still get full lock and a full load of passengers without any problems.

o and i also advise if u have got the spare funds, to get a whole new suspension kit, with new dampners too. cus im on 60mm springs with existing ones and the ride is serious hard now, u feel every little stone on the road!

cheers guys!! yeah am keeping my 172 16s was just looking to recuce the fist gap between wheel and arch! :p any good deals/sites available for either 40 or 60 mm drops??

ive got Pi springs, got them from a place called ICS in leicester, but i paid £120 in total inc fitting. i think the springs on their own are somewhere around £90.

Use the http://www.cliosport.net/articles/loweringfaq/index.asp?Cliosport guide to fit them yourself, its dead easy, took me about 2 hours (about 1 and half for the front springs and 30 mins for back) - I managed to lower mine without problems and Id never done it before. Then you can use the money you save for a couple of crates of lager to reward yourself for a job well done.
