Lowering

  Monaco Blue 172
Unsure whether to lower my car 60mm or 35/30mm, as i dnt no whether 60mm will be practical. Any suggestions? Is there any springs that can lower by 40mm?

Hi mate,

My car is lowered 60mm on PI shocks and springs and is fine. As long as your exhaust doesnt hang too low then it shouldnt scrap anywhere. It obviously makes the ride a bit bumpier but I think if you spend more than I did on suspension then it will be fine :)

I have apex -40mm springs and my car is still practical, I can get people in the back and my bike on roof and not have problems, my mud flaps have even survived.

I cant seem to find any recent pics, the springs have only just settled, I would say the back is spot on but the front needs to go down more, because I only have a 1.2 its really light at the front, I want to try 60mm springs on front and 40mm on rear to see if that looks better.

I think the springs were designed for the heavier 1.4/1.6 etc

Looking good Dave, Mines a monaco blue and I'm getting Turinis on Saturday! I also plan for the APEX -40mm kit when I have some more money! Is it £205 on that site? I also plan to get the colour coding done, how much did it cost you and where did you get it done mate?

I got a friend to do my colour coding who sprays motorbikes, he did it for £100. Expect to pay over double that at a bodyshop. Monaco blue is very hard to match, in the paint book he had there are 7 or 8 different shades of monaco blue, each time a batch of cars are made it changes slightly.

Matta if its for the kit some 1.2 have 52mm hub spacing not like the common 54mm. If it says that for the springs it may be because of what i mentioned above, the 1.2 will sit slightly high at the front because its so light.

Bloody marvelous! lol, I can't tell from the pics, have you got spoiler done aswel? I'm assuming you've had the bumper done!?

I was expecting to pay about £200 tbh. Yours looks smart though and for £100

Yeah I have the bumpers, sidestrips and mirrors done, I wish I had my spoiler done at the time. I did my fog light surrounds myself so I may give the spoiler a go during the summer. Post some pics when you get your wheels.

My plans are.

Clear side indicators - Done
Ph2 rear lights - will be done on Sunday with the wheels!
Cup Turinis - Collecting on Sat, fitting on sunday
Painting brake calipers and drums silver - Sunday hopefully
Lower -40mm on APEX kit - God knows when!!
CD changer - just waiting for the cable
Cliosport carpet mats - waiting for them to arrive
Colour code front and rear bumpers, side strips, door handles, boot lock and spoiler - Like suspension, when I have the money
Private number plate - For Birthday in May, just waiting to find the right one.
Induction kit
Then finally if I want something else to do I'm considering Window Tints

Got about 3 years to do it all, when I finsih Uni I want a 182.
