so its been a long old while since i have been active on here! my last posts were about my old 182 turbo!
in that time i have also had a megane sport dci 175 as my daily driver which was a very well specced car and was genrally a really nice car to drive! just a tad on the expensive side for a daily along with the 182!
so that brings me onto the latest project which is my liquid yellow R27 f1 edition. no 174/500
I bought the car off a good friend and well known spanner man on here mr Alex White back in november last year. I had seen the car a few times at alexs house as he was working on it for a customer who then bought/ swapped cars for his old cup.
id always expressed my intrest in the car while I had only got my megane and then the chance to buy it come up!
So thats where it all began.
it did however have some issues in the way of lack of compression on one cylinder and a few other bits that would need attention, but none the less a deal was agreed and heres a bit opf whats gone on with the car over the last 11 months!
so within 48 hours of a deposit being left on the car we ripped the engine out and tore it open to see what issues were hidden within!
long story short the engine was going to need a rebuild and thats when i started throwing in some more bits to the mix.
its current spec is as follows
wossner forged pistons
PEC forged rods
supertec valves
catcam valve springs
meg 250 turbo
single mass flywheel
r26r clutch
pollybushed torque mount and dogbone
airtec custom intercooelr and custom pipework
full 3" scorpion 197 system
R26 box with LSD
remapped at engione dynamics, (currently sub 300hp due to a cracked turbo) watch this space....
other specs of the car include
aero splitter
aero spoler
speedline turinis 18" with michelin PS4 tyres
billstein B14 coilovers (these will be coming off very soon for some more track focused coilovers)
CM composites sideskirt spats
megane R26 mud flaps
fresh OE discs front and rear, ferrodo ds 2500 pads ]RBF 660 fluid
batetry relocated to boot.
so this year i have done about 14k miles since the rebuild and the car has been absolutley amazing. sure its had some niggles that have needed addressing along the way but thats modified cars right
ive been to the nurburgring in it and it was absolutley spot on bar the standard meglio issue of overheating on track with sustained heavy use. so there will nbe another trip to airtec due soon for a custom rad to be made.
i mailny bought the car as i sold the 182 and just had the megane and i missed the fun factor of a turbo petrol but diddnt want the same rattly discomfort of the 182! so this was the best suited car for my needs!
i seriously would reccomend one of these to anyone. they are just such a good blend of fun/ refinement.
anyhow, enough waffle for now. heres a few more photos from the last year of ownership!
i shall try to maintain some updates as they occur!
one HUGE shoutout to alex for building this little monsyter for me!
a lot more has happend with the project this year but i shall not bore you all with the past, but as said, there are some changes coming and i shall try and keep it up to date!
if you made it this far, thanks for reading!
