You can download it from the M$ website.

I have just finished installing it, so gonna see how much better it is...

So how long does the BETA verson stay fully active on your system? Will it expire in 'X' amount of time? Never really tried M$ Office in a BETA stage before...

yeah i got it last week its ok just very slow

It'll have all the debugging on, tho.

Either way, it's a mess.. and Vista is just a direct rip of MacOS X.

Ahwell. :rasp:

I'm an IT Trainer and I had a look at it but didn't install it due to the recent MS stuff all being rubbish! Windows Live Messenger had a pile of bugs in it from the start (ok now though) and Office 2003 takes some beating cos it's so reliable.

Agreed with the Mac OS comment about Vista btw!!

Infact, you don't realise how bad a rip Vista is until you use it.

Everything good about it, OSX 10.4 has had since April 2005 (I think it was released then).

People will love Vista tho.. Aero Glass effects are great if you're used to XP.. and the search is definetly something I'd use.. but, unfortunatly, I'm going to convert to OSX. The next version will be even better again.. and, it'll probably be out before Vista :rasp:

Office, well, 2003 is everything an office suite should be, so they had to do something crazy with 2007 - and that included some weird interface. People will really not like it.. seriously.. I work in IT support and people like what they know, and every single word processor looks like Word 2003 for example.. so they are OK with it :)

I've yet to use Office tho.. so I will reserve complete judgement until I do :)

Yikes!

Windows O/S's trying to be Macs - Macs with Intels trying to be PCs? Where will it all end?! :S

Oh well, it will all end up being badged Microsoft eventually.... :p

i'm sorry but at the end of the day...they're both copying each other...both have advantages over the other, so it's obvious that they're both trying to incorporaate the best of both worlds in each os respectively. You say vista are copying osx....fine ok if you want. But least they're not porting over mac software to work on PC's like macs have with office and windows etc. Imagine an os with the glossyness of macs, great reliability and great integration on any type of pc....thats what vista are trying for. Obviously we'll see anumber of service packs out before it gets there but thats the target and i think it's great. Go MS, go bill!

Eh? How can an OS which was released over a year ago, be copying one which isn't even complete with no definite release schedule?

Sure, some features of Vista are very good.. and how you integrate into search as a developer is cool, too.. but I can't see how OSX is copying Vista.. on the majority of Vista's new "selling points".
From a user point of view, the main features would be, Vista has Aero Glass, Search and possibly integration of MCE (if you want to use that).
Mac has all of them.. and had them in April 2005.

I'm sure when Leopard is out (OSX.5) then it may have some Vista stuff which isn't in OSX at the moment.. maybe.. but then, Vista will be a year old again.. Heh.

That's the bit that worries me the most. I'd happily still run games from an MS-DOS command line given the chance. Damn that 640k limit. ;)

Eye-candy for eye-candy's sake is nothing but a complete waste of time and resources in an O/S, imo.

MacOS has the right level of "eye candy".

Expose for example, is VERY eye-candy, but it's also one of the most important features as you have no task bar :)
