Mac RAM

Just need a quick answer really.
Ive got a 3rd gen macbook. Whats the maximum RAM it will take? Is it 2 or 4gb?

Cant find a straight answer anywhere!

When you say 3rd gen is it a GMA950 graphics one?

If yes its 3gb (4gb in windows) if no its 4gb

Yes it is the GMA950.

Do I need to get the same size module, asin I cant mix a 1gb and 2 gb?
So I'd need to get 2x2gb modules but it would only use 3gb?

Well i run 2gb in my GMA macbook and its plenty fast.

SOME reports that 3gb actually slows the machine.
If it was me i'd buy 2x 1gb (well i have already)

But i am temped to get a 2gb and see if it makes any difference.

i have a macbook which has 2.2ghz santa rosa chip, got it new in feb, i use 2x2gb and it sees 4gb...if that helps.

ahh sorry..... on a seperate note since feb i have had the lower case and the top( keyboard) replaced under warrenty for cracks
