I get this on mine too,i think it comes from the centre section. Its nothing to be worried about as i've seen quite a few people ask about it.

that'll be your heatshields cooling down mate, this is normal after a good hammering...lol

if you give any car a ragging you can get them to make funny noises once you stop. :)

Yup. I get the same on mine. I reckon it is the exhaust contracting as it cools down, and probably the same for the heat-shields as mentioned previously.

The ticking on mine seems to come from two distinct areas. Main area is near the back box, but there are also similar but less frequent ticking noises come from just behind the engine near the cat.

Does anyone else let their engine run for about 30-45 secs after nailing it on a long drive after coming to a stop? I've never liked just switching straight off, probably cos my first car had a turbo and had to let that stand for a minute or two...

I usually try and go easy the last mile or so to my destination to let everything cool down brakes and fluids.

Got in the habit of doing this since owning a turbocharged car where the idling/warm down period is crucial to it's health!

Likewise , just the exhaust cooling down , contracting , makes a fair old noise ,lol .

I just turn mine off , never leave it running .
