Magnex Exhaust

Sib

  Clio 172 (Silver)
Mine is wonky, do these come with a special fitting kit or has it just been fitted badly

I had no end of trouble with my magnex... not only the fitting but the horrible dull roar on the motorway that fills the cabin... probably needs the hanger modded to fit properly mate, mine did anyway

mines the same.. (on a 182) how did you mod the hanger? I can spend 30 mins with my car on stands, move the mounts about - it'll look fine until I take it for a couple of drives, then its not straight again :( I need to find out where to get myself some adjustable hangers to counteract it somehow

Thats exactly the same problem I am having with my apparently new improved system with adjustable mounts, have you been in touch with Magnex about this ?

I am on my 7th warranty replacement system and im loosing the will to live :dapprove:

Me too

The exhaust was so heavy it rocked around on the hangars even from new.....dread to think whatit would be like when the rubber aged.

Also far too big...twin 3.5 pipes looked fooking silly on the little Clio.

I went for a K-tec stealth in the end and it's been on the car ever since

Mine was on the car when i bought it - So I'm not sure I could contact magnex about it for any warranty stuff. As long as I can buy myself some adjustable hangers I'll be happy, getting a bit sick of messing about with it now!

I've made another post about it - but If anyone reading this can point me in the right direction t'would be great, and that

Might be worth a call to ask ?? otherwise im waiting for another system to be sent to try to resolve the problem so I could try and keep the improved mounts off the one thats going back if its any help ? im sure they wont miss them .. lol

I used to have one on my 172. This is how it looked first time Demon Tweeks fitted it:

This is how it looked the second time after they cut the centre section down and re fitted it:

They are a nightmare to get fitted properly. Probably down to the mounts not supporting it's massive weight.

weight wasn't soo much of an issue after blowing the baffles out (good quality you see... lol), but the hanger when I bought it didn't fit to the car, so tried kwik fit to do something to make it fit... worked for a day then started to blow again, so used some place up in Bury near RE performance to modify the hanger and they even put an extra one on... cant remember the name of them, is was some place my mates work used a lot, very good though.

They have made some improved mounts on the new systems now but im still having the same problem because of the flex as soon as I drive it, it moves :(

Yoz blew the baffles out of mine. After that it was a nightmare on the motorway. Especially heading back from Scotland with a hangover from hell, I was trying to sleep while Pootle tried to drive it quietly.

If you could do that that would be great.. I'm in Manchester half the time with work anyway, so whenever you get your new system I could pick them up, I don't mind paying a bit for them. I'm going to butcher my old mounts tonight to make them lift more - probably not the best plan, oh well :p

I will see what I can do and let you know but it might be worth giving them a ring I have a contact if you need any info :)

is it on a 172? if so, what backbox is it? twin?

No the big oval

and to answer the critics my OE one fell of a day after buying the car and I needed a quick replacement. This was the easist to find and source and I dont have £400 spare to replace it with something that will do the same but is has more RS cred.

Might be worth a call to the place you originally bought it from then as they have a life time warranty but they have to have been maintained every year and your warranty card stamed iirc ?? or is this new .. god knows but anyway hope you get it sorted :)
