Major Misfiring

Rite on my 1.2 mk1 I have a big problem. It was fine...then I decided to replace the distributor cap..(stupid idea). Started up fine drove half way to the next town...bang bang bang, shuder shuder shuder CUT OUT!

Its one thing after another with this f**king car! Got it home, checked plugs, leads then put me old dcap back on. I thought yay my car starts againg but thrashing it, it works but driving at 3k rpm or less shuder shuder bang bang!

is it damp at all ?

make sure the cap is fitted right, yes it is possible not to fit it quite right, it needs to be on 100% perfect, even 1mm out will make it run like crap when warmed up, ive experienced it myself
