Managed to get it going again, but the ECU light is.

After a little too much water found it's way around the engine bay (http://cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=106952), I have managed to get my car running again and keep it out of limp mode but now the ECU light is on.
What do I need to do to extinguish it?
Will it go out after a I have covered XXX number of miles without recording a fault, do I have to remove the battery overnight or is it a CLIP job?

Not sure where the plug are located on the 172/182 but on the valver the plugs are deep in the engine, combine this with a spark plug cover and you never know there is water down the plug holes, Try getting a bagles cleaner with some tubing to suck up any water if there is any!

Thanks for the reply Pat. It's running fine again now after muchos blue roll and WD40 but the ECU light is still on. I just need to know how to get it to go out.

Take out the bulb??? Did you tie your horse to the banister and hang your gun on the door handle LOL.
What's the score with the ECU reset jobbers. Never seen one.

Take it to a garage who has a ECU diagnostics tool.

They will read off the fault code and reset the indicator light (engine light)

Should charge you about £20.
If the light remains on you still have that fault!

Can I not just whip the battery off or are these Clios a little more advanced than Cavaliers LOL?

Ben have a word with Paul @ RS Tuning it might just need resetting in the renault CLIP. If you have a serious fault I believe it needs resetting on the clip before it will clear. They have renault CLIP BTW I'm sure he'll stick it on for you and have a look

Cheers John. I need to trot down to see Pauls old man for a service anyway so it just another excuse. What are the details of his dads garage?

Just driven it to and from work and all seems well. The MPG is a little low at 26-28 but that will prob be the stop start. Other than the ECU light being on it seems fine. It can't be the coil or ECU can it if it runs perfectly?

Shazaaaammmm. I thought it was the ECU light which indicated a fault had been logged. As long as it goes out I don't mind.
