Matched inlets....for trophy

  S2 106 GTI
Just wondering if its worth it....as I have heard and seen that you don't seem to get much + power from them for the 182.

Not as bigger gain as earlier 172's as you'll already have the 'RS' lower inlet. Still worth it though if you have £100 burning a hole.

Not possible to put a definitive answer on it like that ^

How much do standard RS inlets and plenum sell for?? Debating on either buying a set or I have to tools and skills to do my own.....

get them and a remap + decat. You will be able to tell and it all helps.

Got a few other mods so hopefully will match in nicely! just debating to get some or not lol.....

i didn't have the RS lower on mine and didn't notice any difference upon fitting reworked inlet/plenum (although there was an obvious difference in the port mouths, castings side-by-side)

think it's one of those things - there must be so much variation in the castings that you don't know until you try (lots seem to report a noticeable difference). if you can do it cheaply enough, it's worth it just out of interest/curiosity IMO; gains being a bonus

I had a look at my inlets the other day and the lower part seemed to be a good match to the gasket.. but yet having alot smoother port is alot better than a rough one!

I had to get a remap to get the most out of my matched inlets

Too smooth is a bad thing also

surface doesnt want to be "smooth" persay... it needs to have a finish that disturbs the air going over it, that inturn creates a perfect surface for the fast air in teh middle (rather like a golf ball)

the shape however wants to be as un onstructed as possible

I found mine does pull better, i feel it smoothes the power delivery out, makes it a better car to drive
