No one can say for certain though as your car might be literally right on the edge of det now on your current map
^^^^
so does this mean that maps are only programmed for so long?
and i hope my car aint on the edge of detonation as its cost me 1100 notes in the last 5 weeks
As an idea, heres a RR printout from RsTuning
Red- initial run
Green- timing corrected
Pink- inlets fitted
Blue- mapped
If you look closely at it, I think I gained at the top end slightly but lost slightly in the middle until it was mapped so a live map will probably bring that little bit more out but not much
My housemate and I both had Ph1's back in the day
Popped to JamSport one morning. Had our own inlets taken off, CNC'd and re-fitted with the PTFE gaskets.
We both saw 2-3mpg increase difference on the way home and both said the same thing - much nicer to drive and pulls much better across the revs.
HOWEVER - it did take a few miles to feel like this !! We both said it felt horrible for about 15-20 miles, but I guess the ECU was adjusting to the new airflow rates ?! Maybe this is why it doesn't show on the rolling road ?!
Before mine was sluggish below 3k, 3-5k was ok and 5+ was the kick and off it went. After fitting, it pulled hard from 1500RPM to the redline !
Well worth the £150 or whatever it was to me.
Main thing to bare in mind is that NOT all matched inlets are equal.
Some are just some clueless chancer with a dremel trying their best, some are expertly crafted for a good improvement in airflow right though the whole runner.
I would expect not to have the same results from the two types!
I'd be happy with that increase.
Want to go for the 519 cams and matched inlet package but its a lot of money.
Had mine done by Neil Roper on my 172 PH1!
Never knew he was in the Senna film!
Only loitering in the pits, he wasnt a main character or anything, lol
Lol, I'm still claiming the guy that worked on Sennas car has now also worked on mine, sort of, kind of....
Labour isnt cheap to do cams on these cars just because its quite time consuming, the cars now being cheap doesnt make working on them any cheaper sadly, so it makes it hard to justify spending the whole value of the car being spent again just to get a moderate increase.
Personally if I was going for matched inlets I'd go for a proper set done by someone with the right background TBH, like the MWM ones which are done by Neil Roper who is a complete legend in porting terms and is ex Formula 1 from back in the days when people were properly hands on with engines, if he was good enough for senna he is good enough for me, lol, although im sure Danny does his best so am not knocking him for giving it a go, im sure they are still better than nothing
What are they paying you? i don't think i've seen a thread you've posted in the past 2 weeks where you havent mentioned MWM or Neil Roper!!
