Maybe a stupid question on lowering??

  Mk1 Maxim Sport
Hiya, im hoping to get my car lowered an as we all know mk1's have the stupid torsion bar on the back so thats easy enough but im wondering bout the front springs. Do i need to get both the spring and dampers to lower it or just the springs???? an wat do the dampers actually do?!?!?!? cheers guys

on my mk 1 i just went for the springs and put them in the original shocks. never had any problems!

the dampers contain oil and are what absorb the bumps, more commonly known as the shock absorbers.

people run -60mm springs on standard dampers with no problems, but they will wear much quicker than normal. You may experience a slighly 'crashy' ride too with unmatched springs/dampers.
