maybe getting a mk2 phs 2 diesel, got a few questions..

  none, just walk
i may be getting rid of my mini for a clio diesel cos i just cant afford the mini and the petrol, its the 2002 Clio 1.5 dCi 100 Diesel Dynamique version, ive got a few questions though before i commit to it:

1. i used to own a 172 and know the power will be no where near as much but is this version as flat as a fart?

2. im mostly getting it for the mpg cos the £15 for 100 miles out of my mini is killing me, can i expect a lot more in the clio?

3. its in either silver or the red metallic, are those the same colors the 172 come in? if so if i find some 172 bumpers going can i just put them on without any mods?

4.its the dynamic, apart from the aircon and the leather is there much difference in the toys cos i notice the 172 cup has the dynamic interior?

5.i know it sounds like i should just get a 172 but the deal im getting on the diesel is saving my so much money i cant afford to, is it very difficult to make a non 172 look like one?

ill look forward to the replys

you will need 172 wings aswell to fit the bumper at the front mate.

apparently the dci100's go pretty well for what they are, but like you say they are no 172.
i know the non-cups have cruise control, climate, xenons, but not sure on other differences.

100hp version ins't bad give it a test its a different engine ie low down power my parents would say it has more power than a 172 due to the way they drive.

Depends how you drive mpg I get 50mpg on adverage on the long drives but I don't go easy worst I've ever seen s 29.9 on a track day even 110mpg in Germnay was still getting 37mpg or so. Best I've ever seen is 88mpg or so I've had them well over 100 mpg though but the trip gives up over 99.9.

Yep the 172 comes in thoe coloure slightly different shades though.

172 front bumper will fit if you get a body shop to bend it to fit. The 172 has a wider front end so you either need to get the front wings etc arch then side skirts or get the front bumper made to fit. If you get the 172 front arches though to make it look right your wheel won't sit far enough out so you'll want spacers and they will wear the bearing more although life span you'd probably never notice being reduced at all.

Dynamic _+ you'll be looking at they only did the 100 dci in the + they have the rear disks as standard. AIrcon isstandard from memory many will have the climat eoption though since the 100dci were top spec stuff so peple often spent on alot on them.

172 Cup has yep the cheap dynamic interier.

Mate unless you planning on doing mainly motorway miles I'd try and get a 65bph/80bhp. The 100 is generally slower than the 80 round town due to having the shittest gearbox on the planet (out of the 1.6/1.8 petrol lagunas - excellent at sitting on the motorway thats about it) ratios are too long.

I'd get a 65 for more MPG if you need it

i never knew it would be that hard to make it look like a 172!

is the mpg between a dci and say a 1.2 dynamic much difference? reason im asking is i can get a 1.2 for slightly cheaper but im worried incase the dci is a more quality car, its 6 and 2 three's really cos the 1.2 would be a cheaper car but it may cost more to run on petrol? correct?

Yep mpg is about 505 better I get just under 30 out of the petrol 1.2's and 50 out of mine (65hp version).

£50 road fund for the dci's (all specs)

the main thing im worried about getting the clio is the fact that ive never owned a diesel before, do they still sound like tractors? and im scared incase i put petrol in, it would take me ages to get out of that habbit,

also would 172 cup wheels and suspension fit no problem?

172 wheels fit yep.

Suspension nopt different hub sizes plus its not correct for a 172 there better stuff out there though. (you could bodge 172 CUp stuff to fit)

You won't forget juts put a sticker on the fuel cap.

They sounds bit noisy when idling but when running I prefere them to the lower powered petrols. Plus I find thm quieter at motorway speeds they don't sounds like there reving to high.

it wont be DCi100 on an 02, plate it will be 65, think the 80 was launched on 52 plate onwards.

Ive got a 65 and comfortably get 55+ and often 60+. Have done 10k in and not really had any issues that werent self inflicted.

does the dynamic have the mpg thing the 172 has? i loved that feature, also what do you get with a dynamique trim wise?

The later dynamiques had auto wipers/lights, anti-sun rays glass and all sorts, Climate control was optional but is quite rare, front fogs, 'Sports' ratio power steering and 'Sports' suspension.

The DCIs are quicker than the petrols (non-rs) and cheaper to run/tax
