Looks like its just an external hard drive with a card reader and fancy "Media Centre" tag on it.

Looks more than that to me. It's a Thin Client device with Video output and remote. If the thin client is XPe based it should support a wide range of Video as long as they use one of the mainstream codecs. You may also find that there will be updates available for it.

At 68 buck it's worth a throw. might have to buy one myself
