Meet Pinky, my new project...

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
For those who've been on here a while you might remember the fun I've had with my S13 amongst other cars... Well I've had a good 2-3 years of being sensible ish with cars until I had an impulse bid on an MR2 on eBay :/

So, thanks to impulse buys meet Pinky, my mk2 rev1 MR2 Turbo. As you can see, it ain't perfect, but I've missed having something to really mess about with :( I have had the car a couple of months so I've already made some alterations that I've not really photo'd.
The very 1st thing I changed was the seats. The car came with a pair of corbeau seats in it which for a man of my err, physique, weren't so comfy...

I found a pair of original leather seats in decent nick on the owners club for £50 and put them in. I then sold the corbeau's and the rails for a bit more so I took the worn down momo steering wheel out and put in a beautiful S Racing wheel ;) I like it...

So, here are the pics of it from the eBay ad...

The next change was the wheels, 1st they went black... Then they were sold on eBay for some better looking 17s

The next thing that absolutely had to change was that awful exhaust. I really like single exits on these and like a single exit 5" jap can. But 2 of them looks s**t and sounds f******g stupid!

So... I went to powerflow and paid for a cat back twin exit with a much nicer pair of tailpipes. It's a bit quieter than what I wanted but a million times better than how it was.

As you can see, I've also added some pinky and the brain stickers, it's a lot cheaper than de-pinking the car haha.

Dude. Its pink...:(

Loved my old Rev2...awesome car. Get some rev 3 rear lights on there. Makes it look so much more modern!

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
So. De-pinking the car would cost me £850+ for a vinyl wrap in gloss white or gloss black, or much more for a full respray. Given that the car was cheap (possibly due to the fact that some c**t has sprayed it pink at some point) I don't want to spend that kind of money changing it. Queue another eBay impulse and I have bought sticker bomb style vinyl wrap. Now I never was sure of stickerbombing because stickers overlaid peel and look s**t quickly etc etc.

I still wasn't sure I'd like it, or I'd be able to actually get the vinyl on ok so I took the petrol cap off for a tester:

I like it. And aside from where the paint the vinyl was stuck to peeling up , once I put the heat gun to it it stuck on pretty well, so the spoiler next. This brings us too this weekend...

I've removed the spoiler. I'm going to sand it down and spray it 1st as I don't trust the paint to not come away like it has on the petrol cap. It also gives me chance to get rid of the aerial hole as I've put a digital aerial on the windscreen now.

So 1st up, clean the bits I'm painting and let them dry off to see what I've got under all that dirt and bird poop:

Looking good, bad paint aside nothing nasty to repair :) so, about that hole...

It's not awful, so I nipped to halfords to get some GRP to fill it,

F6FF52EB-4796-4837-A621-6AC2DD908AA2_zps6uirganu.jpg

Mix up the resin and the hardener and then stick on the patch and coat it with the mix and once that's started to harden add a second patch on the underside then cut a patch to fill the whole and again coat it in resin mix:

Now that's gonna harden properly overnight and I'll sand it down, filler, sand then comes painting :) and if I have time, another eBay purchase has arrived!!!

And just because they're awesome, pop ups pic

Jamie? Is that you old friend? Haha yeah not too bad mate, you?

I looked at some rev3 rear light I think... Maybe in the future. I kinda am ok with the pink lol. Wouldn't be my 1st choice but it looks alright. In some light it passes for maroon I swear :D

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
So this is how the cars looking right now on the drive.. I actually kinda like it with the spoiler off too... I'll have a think about whether it's staying or going soon :)

I didn't get anywhere near as much done today as I wanted too, partially due to screws rounding on the spoilers risers and me getting frustrated, partly because making the aerial hole disappear took and while and partly because I spent most of the afternoon in the pub... anyway...

The fibreglass dried overnight and was rock hard this morning. I mixed up some filler and generously applied this over the top so I had plenty to sand down in stead of messing about.

As I'd been so liberal with the filler I started with a low grit sandpaper, then worked my way from 80-240-800-1200 so get it smooth and ready for paint:

While I was doing this, I had also ran over the other side with some 1200 wet and dry ready for primer

So, I painted the easy non fillered side 1st:

much better :)

and then I painted the repaired side. Now its just drying over night then comes the vinyl tomorrow...

Sorry I'm s**t at project threads, and I've been busy/drowning my sorrows about getting closer to 30 last week...

So 1st up I measured out the piece of vinyl to go over the pod...
8ADE02A4-1554-4EB0-8732-1AAEC067DF02_zps4dwfc4xw.jpg

Now, due to a lot of swearing, screaming, cursing and at times crying about getting this on neatly, especially when a corner came up. I didn't think to photo what I was doing... My bad. It involved a heat gun and a Stanley knife and some relief I'd chosen stickerbombing as the style and they eventually looked like this.
1D30AD28-E654-477E-8FE6-F0823484D68C_zpsyj9okptw.jpg

Now given that the corners are a nightmare and I only have a limited amount of vinyl, I decided to paint the rest of the spoiler and just vinyl the top... I again didn't take pics of this but I'm sure you can imagine how it all went... I'm still not 100% sure about the look of it, it could all change and just go black but I'm having the sills welded this week so I'm gonna vinyl the skirts and a front lip then decide if it stays or goes...

If it was mine i'd have just pikey rattle canned the whole car, can't stand sticker bombing, but it's your car and as long as you're happy with it that's all that counts, what are you planning to use it for, track slag, weekend f*ck about car, cheap daily?

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
It's a weekend f**kabout car. I've rattle canned, and hammerited, one car already. I've never tried vinyl before and I've liked stickerbombing on cars so I thought I'd give it a try. If I'm honest, the only thing I don't like is the remaining white I should have done it gloss black in hindsight, but it's too late now :) There's gonna be a lot of stupid in this car long before
I dare try and do it 'right'.

You well mate?

Why not matte black it? Plasti-dip? Wrap it yourself? Good fun and doesn't need to be perfect.

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
Hi mate how are you? I will never, ever, buy vinyl again haha. Far too fiddly to work with. I never considered plasti-dipped... Hmmm...

I think that I'm gonna stay with the stickerbomb and consider options for the future.

Thread resurrection!

Since my last post a lot has changed... I've not been on much so I've not really diaried it if you will. However, I recently realised that good MR2 Turbo's are appreciating, and other than the stupid paint mine had potential.

Brief rundown I guess...
It has a dual EBC instead of the manual boost tap, running at a nice safe 0.8bar. Its probably running a little bit more power than stock, I think it ran around 220hp last time it was on an RR.

Coilovers fitted at demon-tweaks. The dampers were easy to push and pull by hand, so they're proper s**t but they'll do for now

I got a decat downpipe to finish the exhaust...
When the decat was being fitted, tuning developments also investigating a rattle. This turned out to be the cambelt tensioner, the belt was loose and frayed completely, its a miracle it didn't snap. The belt and tensioner were changed... it was quite expensive but now there is absolutely nothing wrong mechanically its all been done.

And the biggest change is, it's just come back from a full respray in original Super Red, with a Greddy front lip and border side skirts. I also changed the toblerones to black side repeaters so they look like part of the rub strip and got crystal black corner lights to match.

To get it perfect, I need to have the interior repaired (dash has a hole and door cards have seen better days) and some other annoying little niggles like replacing the ash tray and maybe the heater control.

I bought a Chinese 'Momo' steering wheel which is actually a really nice wheel! If only it didn't say 'drifting' on it...

Now I just need to decide where to put the number plate... it's either a 3/4 plate in the front grill or a vinyl plate on the bonnet edge.

That's more f**king like it.

Just bung an original sized plate on and embrace the OEM look on an appreciating classic.

Repeat after me.

"I swear not to stickerbomb my car again".

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
Yup. But the S Racing one I had on before, for some reason, had sharp met bits on the back that kept catching me.

The Chinese wheel cost £40, actual leather and is really soft and comfortable!

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
Yeah it's not like that haha! Feels like a sturdy wheel. It just looks a bit tacky.

Not having harnesses, there's a chance of headbutting the wheel, and TBF I'd rather headbutt something that's going to bend out of the way rather than something that's rock solid.

Tbf, if you use a fake momo, your going to end up headbutting the boss as the wheel will be in your hands not attached to anything during the collision.

I'd remove the MR2 Turbo sticker out of the rear window, it'll look much better then. It does look way better now than when it was pink!
That steering wheel though, haha!!!😂
