Megane 225 or extras

  Clio 182 cup
Thinking of selling my road bike after the fun I've had going to work in the clio this weekend, I don't think I'll be able to garage it till November this year, so I'll get about 2k for the bike my 2 options are buying a megane 225 because they look quiet fun or putting the money in the clio new wheels and so on, what would be the cleverer idea

I have looked at similar options mate to garage my cup and get a 2k run around or to turbo it and throw some cash into it I figured at 2k I would buy a car and have to throw money at it regardless which I don’t really want to do

Haha why they not very reliable or something?
It's just that at that price point, it will definitely need bits doing to it so you'd just end up spending more money than you originally anticipated.

Even more so if you're using it as a daily.

If you really want another car, it may be worth looking in the bangernomics thread to see what else is out there at that sort of money (inb4 someone says buy a Saab).

Nooo I was going to use the clio as a daily, I brought the clio for winter months as didn't fancy cycling 16 miles at 6am in the cold. The megane would just be something to mess around with while the worlds on lockdown

Oh so do you think I'd be better off just putting the money into the clio

No not saying that but when thing goes wrong with a meggy they can get expensive. Make sure it has had a clutch and dmf done recently as they’re nearly £900. Also front hubs can be a royal pain in the arse and not easy to work on, so specialist help is often needed.

Fair enough, i'd only really recommend getting one if you're handy with spanners, as has been said above they can be expensive/difficult to repair.

For your budget, you could refresh all the suspension, engine mounts etc and still have cash left over. It'll feel like a brand new car too.

Dont get a 225, for the love of god don't

Funnel money into the Clio instead. Or buy something cheap and then engine swap it. I've toyed with the idea of getting a cheap s**t MK3 Clio and dumping a 2.0 dCi in the front for shots and giggles

I think I'll give it a miss then thanks for the info

Only thing cheaper on the 175 is the fuel costs. All other running costs are the same really

Possibly worse with the 175 as you have a DPF to battle against

Check my Megane 175 thread and find out for yourself mate😂😂 Mines a well looked after example and yet I've still thrown parts catalogues at it!

Yeah dont buy that, looks like a right nail

If I were to sell mine it would deffo be double your 2k budget mate😂 I'm pretty sure mines the only (or one of a handful) 5 door LUX and CUP packed 175 in the country. They only bothered making Cup models for the 3 door

Probably the only 5 door with an LSD though😂
