Megane 225 Progress Thread

Well this is my other car which is my main car my meg 225 i thought i would share with you maybe something a bit different as most are 3 door megs ive got it to where i want it now and just want to enjoy it for the time being. I did toy with getting it to over 300hp but i fancied having fun with another clio 182 again as there just as fun even though they havent got the same power as the meg, their the best for a b road blast. So decided to pump money into that so i can enjoy both cars and look to track the clio next year hopefully.

Timeline of all these changes in around a year from around Sept 14 when i bought it to present day.

Previously had a phase 1 inferno 225 cup but sold that and bought a 5 door phase 2 last September.

As ive got 2 kids it had to be a 5 door and rather than not have a megane sport and have some boring 5 door car within my budget i spotted this car not too far away and decided to go and have a look.

Turns out it just recently had major cambelt service and full service history and looked a very good example.

Anyway Pics of the day i saw the car.

developed a fault soon after with the notorious airbag light, which i had encounted on my previous meg

got the light turned off more diagnosis was to follow but hasnt come on since

saw some other nice renault sports while i was there

next was the debadge of the megane lettering

Then it was off to the Wales Rally GB

headlight upgrade and full led interior upgrade aswell as number plate bulbs. (had to order more as forgot with being a 5 door there is more bulbs doh!

also painted engine bay and battery covers

next up cooksports, to get rid of the horrible body roll and close the arch gap. new renault sport badge added with KTR sticker (controversial i know but i like it for now ha). and rs megane sticker that didnt stick very well so ended up with RS MEG which i prefer anyway. added new plain rear plate

Also added new gear insert

next was then the backbox chop. I also removed the cone filter that was on it when i bought the car and replaced with new modified air box with cold air feed as existing ducting had perished and seen better days. Also bought some TPI covers for the wheel bolts aswell as new intercooler

(FEB 2015):
Well its been a tough and annoying week.

First up last sat 28th went to RS tuning for the rolling road and mapping session day meet

Was a good day until it was my turn on the rollers for the map and the car wouldn't start! could not believe my luck, never happened before.

AA arrived and thought it was a sticking fuel pump managed to get car going again and just drove home as i didnt have any relay cover that i thought i had!

Guys i met at rs tuning meet were all very helpful it coming to my aid to help (cheers guys, really not sure who everyone was though lol)

Anyway on back home the AA guy hadn't put my boost hose on properly and the jubilee clip was snapped.

A jubilee clip later and it was sorted. Since then the car hasnt failed to start once and has been fine since.

fast forward to yesterday and pulled my handbrake up and it appears the cable has snapped.

Ive done a temporay fix with a lot of help from a mate and we have the handbrake working but really needs a new cable.

so in the mean time my spoiler arrived from spray shack.

So planned list of things to do now:

check fuel pump
new handbrake cable and fit
turn off tyre pressure sensors
Fit R26r Spoiler

then go back to get my remap

Well after not having my car for 2 weeks due to the warranty company messing around for what was a failry simple job of fixing handbrake and putting new fuel pump in as regulator was faulty im finally glad to get it back.

Went down to see Mick at diamond motors to have tyre pressure sensors and airbag lights sorted out.

Top quality work and not much long later all sorted.

Got some bits done today.

Mate wanted to test his emissions machine aswell so plugged it on the back of the exhaust. Emissions look fine so good to know for mot time.

Bits done:

Rear shocks
Rear indicator bulbs changed for clear silverline ones
Polarised wheel bolts fitted
Spark plugs fitted

Well just got back from my visit to RS Tuning this morning. Paul's a top lad and worked his magic. seen another chap down there who was getting his mates megane ph2 track car to 450hp (i was going to stay to watch but wanted to drive my car haha)

Car ran 245hp on standard (Paul said it was a strong one)

Then once stage 1 map applied made 272.5Bhp and 280lbft torque.

To say i'm more than pleased is an understatement very happy with the figures.

Totally does transform the feels so much quicker.

Anyone thinking about doing a remap do it!

Decided to redo my cold air feed as original one had split where it ran under the battery tray.
Managed to fit it in and happy with it now

Removed door card and cleaned connections as driver side window stopped working.
Such poor design connections were corroded and wet.
However its working now

Ive decided that i fancy a cosmetic change so my wheels have gone in for a refurb in a darker anthracite.

Looking at doing a few other cosmetic changes and then will post pics when i have.

For now i ordered 2 more Nankang NS-2r tyres so they are the same all round.

As im having my wheels refurbished im currently rolling round on some Laguna 17 inch wheels that i was loaned until my wheels are done

Ive captured this on my app and it does output a csv file for me to play around with the data with various parameters. But in summary i get 1.2 bar max which i think is right after remap

Had my wheels refurbed in dark anthracite. Fitted smoked side repeaters and fitted black diamond badges.

Well last night didnt go as planned hit a deer going about 35mph roughly, came out of nowhere on unlit road.

Got towed back by aa and after checking damage this morning its not too bad just a new rad and front bumper needs sorting which i will do.

Fixed the car last night after the deer encounter turns out it was just the rad that was split i think the larger upgraded intercooler helped saved it from being worse.

Fitted rad all seems to be working ok
Fitted carbon blank inplace of rear wiper
Opened up grill for length of intercooler
Fitted new splitter
Fitted silvervision front indicator bulbs

Carbon wrap badges and a clean

put on heko deflectors on aswell

Had bonnet and mirrors wrapped today

Had my side bullets delivered so attached them to the car

Plasti dipped my door handles

Changed my bullets again

Had my headlights tinted a very light smoke after most of the car is black i didnt really like the bright white of the headlights so darkened it a bit with the tint.

Hard to capture the right image in the photos but im happy with it i appreicate it wont be everyones cup of tea.

I was liking it until the bonnet and wing mirror wraps, wind deflectors and heavily tinted windows.

It looks a little Bradford to me but I can appreciate the work that's gone into it.

You mean the windows or headlights? The windows i havent tinted they were on the car and there honestly not dark because i hate dark tints there pefect to be honest think they look a lot darker on the photos

I appreciate it wont be everyones taste, hides and protects bonnet if nothing else lol.

Obviously i like it, it looks better in the flesh and its not permanent anyway.

I hate tints aswell but trust me it doesnt look as dark in the flesh, ive had quite a few people ask where i had them done as everyone says their perfect not to dark (which i hate) and not to light either. (its a strange one as in the pics i agree they look dark) funny how opinions vary as i had one person on rsmegane say that i should go darker lol.

Wind deflectors are marmite but i think they look better on 5 door cars as they follow the line, wheras a 3 door car doesnt match with the rear windows so looks odd.

The wheels look black aswell but there not there dark anthracite.
