Megane R26R

  Inferno 225 cup
both rear? Rear boot lip and bottom near exhaust?

Someone walked past and brushed it?

My megane as been through the wars with weather but never have I seen marks like that.

Black is the colour of the devil on cars though.

Ad for exhaust. Cgr do a titanium 3" my normal cgr exhaust is immense and the work carried out making it is 2nd to none. Charlie's work is [emoji1419][emoji1419]

Somethings very odd there? New wash towel? Course wash mitt?

Should definitely not do that after a £550 correction/protection

I had a silver mx5 for 5 years, I replaced it with a metallic black one.
That was sold following year, would never have a black car again.
Just shows too many marks even with good cleaning technique.
The bumper photo looks almost like paint work repair?

Just read that Gtechniq Crystal Serum has a hardness rating of 7-9 on the Mohs scale.

So he's either had your pants down and not applied it OR it's been applied wrong and failed.

f**k knows, my concern now is what happens next. If he tells me to do one I'm shafted.

Black gold paint is a piece of piss to swirl. Like, breathe on it and it scratches.
That said, I've never had much to do with this ceramic bollox so not sure how well it will protect.

As a side note, I never use dry drying towels, I always soak them in very warm water and a splash of drying aid before wringing them right out and drying the car. Dry towels play absolute havoc on soft paint.

These towels are mega soft and I always make sure they are damp before wiping down the car.

This is what I don't understand, the coating is on top of the paint right? So it shouldn't matter if the paint is a little soft as the sealent is mopping up the slack?

Im really sorry to hear this as I know how anal you are about your cars.
All I can say is take it back, don't touch a thing and see what he says. Its worse than when you dropped it off how can he possibly get out of it.?
The power of facebook is your friend along with cliosport if he tells you to do one.

As I say, I have no clue about these ceramic sealants (and no interest in learning TBH! Lol) but to my rookie mind, I'm in 100% agreement with you.
Has anyone else in the R26 club had this issue at all that you know of?

Black gold is normally hard as f**k too as with most Renault paints.
I was told black gold is pretty hard, but the r26r is deep black, not black gold. Maybe renault skimped on the top coat, weight saving n all that.
Must be gutting to be without your new car for a week, see it pristine and then have this days later. Don't take the evo to him @Ant1!

Take the evo to him? Yeah that boat has sailed.

Your drying did it most likely. Drying cloths and paint rarely mix well especially on black where it shows straight away.

What is concerning is how you managed to micro mar a ceramic coating so easily... That is a worry. Please bare in mind these coatings are microns thick at times.

Very strange. They should also be repelling the damage but if it has been the poor drying technique then even glass coating won't help.

Invest in an air dryer or similar. Drying technique is usually at the heart of of a lot of swirling issues.

Lols. Not quite sure how you leave the top coat out.

Renault used hard clear coat for years. Hence why any polishing on a Renault is akin to tourture. Not sure why the black car on the same line would be any different.

What usually is the case is hard clear coats can swirl easy but hard to polish but they are more robust in their make up. Merc and Audi used a similar product but they still swirl easy.

Renault don't have soft paint like Nissan and the Asian brands. It just that black in general will show anything... I mean anything up.

Hope that helps.

They are brand new auto finesse super soft cloths. How exactly can I dry it wrong??

You mean besides the fact they're not all built in the same factory lol. Plus sorry this was a limited run at the time. It's definitely not the first I've heard of black gold being extra soft.

That said if it's all the panels, I'd be inclined to agree with James.

I'm starting to think the same as what the guys on DW have said about it not being corrected properly to start with.

Not really sure that was my point. Renault use hard clear coat. If other r26rs have this issue then maybe it is an r trait. But Renault of that age have rock hard clear coat... Doesn't mean it won't mark easily.

In regards to the cloth. It's a piece of material made in Asia somewhere paintwork is pretty delicate rubbing it over paint will inflict damage.

Did he send over sun gun or direct sun light shots during the detail? Or can you guarantee these swirls were not present before washing?

So what your saying and I do trust your advice. Is don't dry the r that he's spent 550 on to get detailed with anything but an air line?

I'm not being an ass btw just curious

Pretty much. Or air dryer opposed to compressed air.

You don't see many detailer using drying towels and you'll find if they do they're detailing the car anyway!

All the pics I posted on this thread. I washed the car on Tuesday night after getting it home using the same methods, no issue what so ever. I used a powerful torch to check over paint to see what the job was like. Today I washed and dried the car in exactly the same way, however this time i used autoglym shampoo in the bucket.

Sunday was just water.

I had a black evo and a Porsche paint corrected a few years ago and never had issues like this and I was not as careful.

Honestly dude at this point, I wouldn't fret - just take it back to him. To my eye, those swirls on the bumper aren't drying marks. They're circular, they don't look like they've been inflicted by hand drying. Unless you're a man of immense precision!!! And I think this is why the guys are all in agreement on DW, it hasn't been corrected properly.

The problem with the before and after shots also, is some of the fillers and compounds used are great at hiding these things for all of 5 minutes.

I'd never attempt correction myself for these reasons and more lol, especially a black car. 500 quid isn't enough if you want a job done right. It's days of work

When you say just water you mean just a hose down? Also seems you put a lot of effort in everywhere but went for ages shampoo which isn't very slick either.

f**k knows, lets see what happens when he looks at the car, he's gone quiet now mind. Not had a reply since 3pm which is unlikely him.

I know Gally hates it, but this is one reason I love PPF lol.

Don't ever consider it though, I had to take some of mine off recently. It's grim.
