Meggy 225 vs DC5 vs VXR vs Golf GTI

  Tangoed Works
Surprised at how well the Megane faired against the type r. I think the Brembos and LSD made the difference. The DC5 is the true racer out of the lot!

  The Jinx
To be fair, I reckon the guy in the Meggy moved over very easily. I also reckon the guy in the VXR was taking some strange lines and you could see how the Teg and 225 were getting away as a result.

Still a top vid though. I thought the Golf was supposed to be the better handler? Notice how much less work the 225 guy is doing with the wheel than the Teg? Looks like he's cruising round.

err il be the first to point it out its missing...

Cup Chassis

18" Lightweight Anthracite Alloy Wheels

Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres 235/40 R18 (ilo 225/40 R18) (8.5" !)
Drilled front and rear brake discs
Uprated front and rear spring rates
Re-tuned front / rear damper settings
Increased brake master cylinder diameter

there you go and it makes a lot of difference on the track. also he fuks a gear up in the megane. it turns crisper than the vxr and looks faster on the straights etc..

Hand on heart if that megane was a F1/Trophy/Cup version that 1-0.8 sec would have vanished. nothing in it. the megane is still the fastest euro hothatch and cheapest :D

oh and the most kit and safer etc..

That is not a VXR Astra thats a SRi Turbo 200 hp. You seriously think a 225 Megane would pull away from the VXR like that in a straight line! LMAO I've seen another BM video with those cars in it and its a 200 hp Astra Turbo.

still think a cup`d megane would beat a vxr on track.

just thought id add the prefacelift stock 225 megane cannot disable ESP over 30mph !!! this seriously effects the track handling. the cup pack allows this to be fully disabled as does the new facelift model

forget the vxr as its a cacky vaxhaul, its the ITR that its up there with thats impressive. a £15k hatchback whipping the full DSG golf gti at 23K and its not even a lighter cup or got the now standard cup options steering tyres, esp, springs etc on.

Until you know the exact spec of the Japanse 225, id not just assume that 225 in the video doesn't have any of the upgrades (it might just have normal wheels)

i want to save it on my pc :( in my hugeeeeeee collection lol

I think there is a way to do it, if you look at the HTML of the page. I'll have a look around on google and see if its possible.

a cupped megane would blitz a normal meg 225 on a track, the original 225 is sooooo not a track focussed car, simply not what it was designed to do, no more than an Audi RS 4 is a track car. As meggerman rightly says a cup chassied meg with the cross drilled brakes etc would be a LOT quicker round the track than a normal one. Top gear times are 1.34 full fat and 1.32.5 for the trophy (cup chassis) by the way oh and the astra VXR trundled in half a second later at 1.33

that said I wouldnt fancy my chances against a teg on the track even with the remap/eibachs!

come on john, a remapped cup would be faster, a cup`d stock 225 would be the same...... apart from millions of luxury extras on the meggers + safety + better design etc..

for that man who said lets not talk about what version of 225 it was.. lol at you. how did they decide to swap some 18 x 8.5 " anthacite turinins for the "only avaliable on 225 fullfat" wheels, (18" 182 wheels) all the way to japan etc.. that theory is simply a load of poo balls.

its a 2002 fullfat series 1 without cup chassis tyre and steering + esp upgrades. It trounced the golfs even with their 23k list prices, 250lbft (50lbft extra) on ron98 BP ultimate fuel increases + 3k DSG boxes which all the vag/audi forum users are waffling about , it beat the sri 200 astra, it could have ealiy beaten a teg with cup mods and the bad driving at some points let it down. i.e a complete 5 sec miss change when he gets the wrong gear in the 225 and so the teg goes in front ?????? try that in F1 or btcc or any professional race and come first after a mistake like that lol ! if the megane had been driven better + in stock form it would be equal to that of the teg, if it was a cup`d model it would have won.

end of.

ohh and the meggers is 5k cheaper !! spend that 5k on the 225 and it should be raced against STi`s and win.

i simply hate this c**k sucking Jap fascination when its reno who lead F1, when its reno who produce all the forum members fun and when its reno who give performance + fun per pound.

ive yet to have actual fun in a Honda or a subaru or a mitsubishi motor. yet ive had fun in cheap reno`s + fords + peugeot`s

I may be wrong about the difference specs on the 225, but you my friend are talking pish. Japanese cars often have different specs to UK ones and its not beyond the realms of possibility that the 225 in Japan comes with Cup suspension but normal wheels (it might not but its more than possible)

Your comparing times on the top gear "track" with the times achieved on the track in the video? Oh wait the VXR will be half a second slower than the 225 on every track lmao. Behave.

nup neil jap cars are identical.

a vxr and ITR would be slower than a 225 cup`d around a track.

if for a slight moment in infinate time they were faster by 0.5 secs (i cant even blink that fast) then who cares ? the meggers is better looking, easier to exploit on uk roads, is safer, better equiped and cheaper... hmmm exaclty like the last 5 years running of 172/182`s also (reno must be onto something) we wouldnt even be on this forum if it wasnt like this.

the megane is just a better car, its not often you get to say that about something french. anyways i get tired of arguing semantics on shitty forums, each to thier own but buying/running/owning something comes down to more than just 0.5 on a track with lowest old spec model megane, even then you still have more to offer than a basic two seater old jap. or a overpriced and overweight GTI DSG

just makes me think there are people who are so quick to suck off the lastest japstuff when they drive reno`s like if they could afford too they would buy honda`s ???? aspirational or what PMSL, casio rules ok

Guy at work has just got a 225 as his company car its a month opld and has spent a week in the garage allready with electrical problems, Megane may well be 4 k cheaper than a DSG'd golf, But will not resell as well, and be worth way less in 3 years time, save yr money now lose it later. To put that into perspective, my golf was way more expensive than a 225, but the lease price per month Cheaper by 50 euros, simply based on resale.

Integra for me, they are sarx.

  Turbos.
I would love a DC5. Couldn't give a crap if a Megane/VXR was faster with 'X' amount of upgrades, the DC5 driver would always be having more fun.
