Memory Stick - HELP!!!

If a memory stick wont read in two different pc's does that mean its broken and I cant get the data off it in any other way :dapprove:

Spent the last two days doing an application form, saved on memory stick and now it wont work

what error message? if is not displaying at all, go to desktop > right click on computer > manage > look for it under disk management.

If your getting cyclic redundancy check messages its f**ked. I've had two do this.

give the connectors a wipe over.

I have taken the cover off it and cant see that anything has blown.. is there no way a computer shop might be able to fix it/recover the data ??

Its not under removable storage

It got really hot when it stopped working does that mean something has blown ??

it should list under disk management, i've not had them get hot before, could mean its bust.

take it to a computer shop. But its likely that it may have got to hot and maybe melted internal components of the memory stick.

As Gareth said, probably needs assigning a drive letter.

Go to Control Panel > Administrative tools > Computer Management > Disk Management, it should list it there in the bottom half of the window, right click - change drive letter and paths.

Should work, as a number of people at work cant access memory sticks for this reason.

If it was getting really hot its most likely one of the chips inside is fucked.... along the data that was on it 2

Some of them have a little switch on the side to make it read only, try flicking that, may work....
