Mer scratch and stone chip removal kit

thats a good result, try taking another pic when its as sunny as the first pic so a true match can be made, but looks good!

There is actually a bit more to do as if youre looking for the scratch you will still see it, but I would recommend that kit to anyone. Done a fantastic job. The back will be more tricky, but the video that came with the kit reckons it is up to the job, so Ill give it a try. Need to get some touch up paint and laquer on the back before using the kit.

Good stuff though. Reckon a body shop would have charged me more than £20 to do the bonnet.

Abolutely simple. You need a power drill (I used a cordless electric drill/screwdriver) to do the polishing and a video recorder to watch a 10 minute training video. Took about an hour to get the bonnet done as above. Just going to go over it one more time to finish it off. The scratch is about the thickness of a fine hair now and barely visible even when looking for it. Might as well finish it off.

Ill take a photo of the kit later and post it up here.

Bit scary sandpapering the bodywork and then letting loose with an electric drill, but it was either this or expensive bodyshop. Made the right decision for once!

Would it do a severe stone chip??

Ive got one just on my bonnet bulge: its about the size of a woodlouse and has nearly gone down to the metal. Would this kit work on it??

Cheers

Yes, will do stonechips. Got a couple myself which are now next in line. Going to have perfect bodywork by the time Im done! Just got the rest of the scratch out. Cant see it at all now :D. About to start on the boot....

Edit: Just washed the bonnet with washnwax stuff and it is 100% immaculate. Will get a pic after dark when the flash lights up the paintwork to show what I mean.

Thats mad!!

As KDF said i dont believe in these kinds of products, however this appears to be the nuts! £20 tis a fooking bargin too! im going to go get me some of that in the next week or so and start ironing out all the little motorway chips i have. If it brings my bodywork up like anything like the pics i will be well happy...

nice 1 for posting the pics, looks like its done an outstanding job!

How did your car get damaged?

What exactly does your chip kit consist of?

i had a blast with t-cut colourfast on me pearlescent black clio and it has done a good job of getting rid of minor scratches or at least makin them less noticeable. it is a bit abrasive so i wont be using it too often. :D

where did you get the paint from, the exact colour of paint ? do you just specify it to the halfords muppets or is there set kits

You have a paint code which is matched up. They either will keep it in stock or they can mix it up in about 10mins

My bonnet repair above didnt use any paint and the scratch was just on the clear coat layer. Im doing the boot now with paint from the Halfords chip repair kit range. Its a perfect match for the monaco blue, but I think the scratches on the back are beyond chip repair kit rescue. Still, worth a try...

Thats such a s**t, the damage that is :devilish::mad: to who ever did this !

as an FYI, if you ever ABSOLUTELY KNOW FOR CERTAIN who it was that damaged your car there are two products designed for revenge. One is called Nitromorse(unsure if spelt correctly) and the other is brake fluid. Nitromorse strips to the metal whislt bubbling the paint, brake fluid strips the paint and renders it unpaintable in the future.

just thought i would pass on some useful info.....

The repair on the bonnet is superb. Im the only person who can find where the scratch was, but the boot needs a respray. Too much damage to repair. Ive done an okay job on one of the boot scratches, but it needs to be perfect like the bonnet.

Vengence will be mine :devilish: I am seriously pissed off about this!
