Mid-life crisis help needed

I had a Clio 172 when I was 23-26, then a Mk5 Golf GTI 26-29……I turn 40 this year so did the sensible thing and bought a Mk5 R32 and a 182

Everything is half price or less for the Clio vs Golf, which is making the Clio project more fun, and eBay hunting is much less guilty.

Also I went to to see a lot of Golfs and Clios and the Clios were less rusty overall! I find apart from sills the shells aren’t too bad, it’s the gearboxes, interiors, exhausts, bushes, electrics, radiators, bodywork and interior trim that are the problem

Haha at least we expect the Clio's to be s**t, our expectations of a Golf would be higher. I had a Mk7 Golf GTI for a while, fun car. So good choice on the R32 tbh.

One owner purchased new in 2004.
65000 miles.
No rust that I know of.

I can’t believe we’ve made it this far without someone suggesting an E46 M3.

I highly recommend a Clio based mid life crisis. This was/is mine, although the reg plates are now private wanker plates to compound the crisis situation, CL10 RSU and C111O RS

I contemplate selling my Williams powered valver and getting a e46 m3. I thought I would mention that now after an e46 gets mentioned.

I open the garage, fire up the valver, blast it around the lanes and come back with the biggest smile on my face and think how the hell can I possibly get rid a Renault hot hatch ever again. I would miss it and regret it massively if I let it go.

Clio, especially a mk1 is the perfect bang for your buck mid life crisis project /weapon. Do it.

It started five years ago when both kids started paying board. Then it stepped up a level after they’d both moved out.

For the record I have never been a Porsche nor vag fan. Don’t have a go at me though as this means nothing. I have never driven nor owned a Porsche. I just don’t cream over the looks of them and like clarkson, felt they all look too similar. I know if I drive a 911 I would love it. They just don’t do it for me.

My misses cringes at the fact I still own and drive a Clio at my age but I don’t give a s**t. They are great cars and I love it. I would regret selling it for what it’s worth and what it provides. Makes me feel 18 every time I drive it. Priceless.
