MIKE: I need you! Screen in Dash.

I would like a screen fitted into my dash.

I have a DVD headunit, and I would like the screen to function off it.

I don't want it to look like it's been bolted-on.

What are the chances of getting the renault sat-nav screen retro-fitted?


Can I buy a VDO screen, and replace the relavent dash part?

im pretty sure both Mike and Ady have bought the VDO screens seperate from Ebay, then bought the SatNav dash part from Renault.

Looks spot on, especially if you get the VDO SatNav to match

if i remember correctly the dash is 260 from renault , screans were 100-150 depending on screen,

dont quote me on it

i thought the dash was 260ish if i remember, as you have to buy a new top dash section. i only remember as he ebayed the old one lol

hmmm wonder how hard it would be to mould that part from fibreglass and cover with alcantara.... or even carbon fibre but the mould and curing process would have to be decent quality...

ive seen something similar done on another forum, but he used an in car PC in the glove-compartment. something i'm definetely considering when ive got some cash - so that'll be in 2008

should cost sub £200 which includes the dash and screen holder

do u want sat nav or just dvd/tv screen??

i got mine done (after bothering mike loads for part numbers lol )

but i could not find a screen to match!!

what i eventually did tho was to buy a 5.8" necvox FD-5869 screen

now heres the fun bit!! take the screen apart, just the screen cover - you will be left with the 5.8" screen which will fit perfectly into the holder but then you will have problems with turning it on/off

you then have 2 choices!

1. you can extend the buttons from the screen onto a separate PCB and mount the buttons infront of the screen on the holder

2. (what i did) extend the infrared LED and operate the screen by remote!

job's a good one!! works and looks perfect!

i didnt do all this myself - luckily i live very close to a very reputable audio and custom shop called Sound In Motion - some mite have heard of them from Max Power Live??

anyways take it to any good shop and they should be able to do this no problem!

mine is dynamique

it was £140 for the screen and a couple of hours work if that

so your looking around £350 at least for the whole lot including dash

needs a clean lol havent got it wired up yet but will hopefully get that sorted within the week! also every one has commented on it greatly over here (northern ireland) its a rare site here
