Mild steel vs stainless

Standard manifold and aftermarket backbox coupled with either of the above. Which would be louder?

Material does have an influence on sound to be fair. Its all about resonance (sp?). For example, more exotic materials such as titanium give very different sounds.

That's always what I've been told too. But they build up rust faster?

depends on the quality,

i've seen a good mild system outlive a shite stainless one.
Got a friend who used to make exhausts and cages for a living, all certified to install cages in race cars, MSA approved etc.

he knew his stuff, and his mild exhausts were always cracking.

moved to Aus now though so no more discount systems :(

Stainless tends to have more audible resonsance of the two, but as mentioned its far more about the baffles than the material, the material just exaggerates it, overall mild steel IS quieter though if everything else is even.
